AICE Media Studies: Stand Your Ground Production Blog Pre-production

There was a combination of reasons as to why I haven't started filming as of the date of this blog (March 4th). From the least complicated to the most complicated, I would list my reasons as date, time, and preparation. Date: I didn't plan on filming until March 7th as stated in my schedule blog. Time: My schedule for activities that take place after school is set up in a way that accommodates the activities that I complete now so suddenly adding another activity would throw me out of balance. Preparation: There is a lot that goes into making sure that everything and everyone is ready, but personally I deal with my own struggles mentally when it comes to stress-inducing work. In a way,  am a perfectionist, so when it comes to filming, I prefer to have everything done correctly rather than done in general. This causes me to reshoot many scenes and alter the smallest of deletes which when spread out over weeks of filming can become extremely stressful. With that in mind, I like to give myself days to physically prepare for how drained my body will be fr the next few weeks from running around to get certain shots and angles. I also like to allow myself a few days to mentally prepare for the stress caused by being a perfectionist filming an opening sequence.

During the time I use to prepare, I plan out how the filming process will go in my head. I then rerun that same scenario in my head and improve whatever I can. From that point, I try my best to translate that from my head into real life. I have had good success with doing this in the past, especially for my Music Video project a few months ago. Up until now, that project had the hardest angles and movements to replicate but I was able to produce a decent product with the imitations of no tripods then, so I strongly believe I will be able to do the same. When the day does come (March 7th), I imagine that filming will go along the lines of this: Jalil Bivens, the intruder, will shoot all of his scenes from 12:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.. That gives me enough time to get reshoots of scenes and it also allows for Jalil to get different shots at different times of the day. When it comes time for me to edit, I will be able to mess with the lighting and the different times of day using after effects. If executed properly and in a timely manner, We will finish filming for that day extremely early. If I do happen to have actors on set, I might continue with filming their scenes. Because I play the main character there is a large chance that I will also film my own scenes that day if I have the extra time. The worst thing comes to worst, Jalil misses this day and comes back three weeks later for reshoots or whenever he and I are both free.
