AICE Media Studies: Stand Your Ground Production Blog Hospital Stay

This blog will be split into two days, the day of the films and the day after. I completed this blog this way because it allowed me to compare how I felt things were going on the day of and what I truly thought them to be the day after. With that in mind, we begin this blog on Sunday, March 7th, 2021. Unfortunately, the matriarch of my household was hospitalized this weekend and the patriarch decided to never leave her side, spending the days and nights at the hospital with her. Because of this, the house that filming would’ve taken place was left with no parents, which meant we couldn’t film there. Therefore, I improvised a plan to film at my cousin's house and edit the background to make it similar to my house. My mother, who was the head of the safety team for this film head decided that the safest option for all parties involved would be to spend the whole weekend at our cousins and film as much as we can. With that, I spent Friday and Saturday night at my cousins, along with the Sunday that we began filming.

Sunday, March 7th:

Because of the situation that we were in, I decided not to film certain scenes that required my house. This meant that the opening shot, the wall up the driveway in scene 12, the pan of the window in scene 9, and the doorbell shot from scene 15 would have to be pushed back to a later date. I did however use the fact that our cousins have bunk beds similar to the ones my brother has for his room and shot scene 10. I also considered that I could always edit the two different streets to make them look like they lead into one another, therefore parts of scene 2 were shot. One way that you would be able to distinguish my room from the others was that my room had LED lights. My aunt's room has a similar-sized bed and LED lights but I decided not to film. Due to our limits on filming, I decided to cut that day short and just have fun with my family, which lifted my spirits about my mother being hospitalized.

Monday, March 8:

In retrospect, I shouldn’t have shot any scenes on Sunday. I mentally wasn’t prepared for the challenge nor was I physically prepared. Being a home invasion-styled thriller, I shouldn’t have ever considered Filipino anywhere except my home. When reviewing the footage it was very clunky and had no professionalism to it. Therefore I will be reshooting all scenes this Sunday coming up and pushing my schedule back one week.
