AICE Media Studies Production Blog: AICE Medical Studies

Yesterday I participated in a track meet. This particular meet was the championship meet for the city of Fort Lauderdale. This meant that every school in the city was there to participate and our boy’s team had won this meet every year since it was introduced. Going into this meet, for once, we were projected to lose and come in second place. I credited this to the laziness on the boys team. Most of the boys believe that their the best so they don’t have to work to win anything. Many of them do have natural talent, but that was only going to allow them to win so much. After the dual meet season was completed and we where in competition season, it became evident who had natural talent and who wanted to fight to win. I personally consider myself a fighter because I don’t have natural speed and I never once told myself I have a guaranteed victory in any of my events. So when entering the nerves begin to kick in; I do pole vault which is one of the first events ran so I was over in that area. Because I hadn’t pole vaulted all of spring break, this meant that the last time I had pole vaulter was Counties, which was two weeks prior. I was ranked in the middle of all the pole vaulters so on paper I should’ve beat at least half of them if everyone jumped their personal record(PR) mine of which was 9 feet 3 inches. I couldn’t event take off in my practice jumps but by a miracle I left this meet with a new PR of 9’6. Onto the running side of my events the first event I completed was 110 meter hurdles. I end up with a new PR in this event also and placed second in my heat. Onto 300 meter hurdles, this is where the title of my blog comes into play. My 300mh race was absolutely tragic. I feel on the third hurdle, spraining my ankle in the process. I’m still dealing with this injury and there are time where I can barely stand, but that fall wasn’t the end of my meet. New to me, I ran the 4 by 400 meter relay. My adrenaline pushed me through this race with my sprained ankle and I was glad that I ran it even after falling hard earlier.
